The City and County of San Francisco CCSF is evaluating the specifications for an open source voting system. Open Source Voting (OSV) systems can improve the transparency of election systems enable the sharing of the open source code with the elections community, and drive improvements in election systems.
The City has been engaged in discussions regarding open source voting for several years. The Open Source Voting Feasibility report was released in March 2018 and outlined multiple options for the City to consider in the development of this system, along with estimated costs, timelines, and key next steps. The City is taking the next steps to clarify the requirements, costs and timeline for developing this system.
